Stem and Vein Kratom
Stem and Vein Kratom from Stems and Veins
Stem and vein kratom is not made from the leaf tissue but from the stems and leaf veins of Mitragyna speciosa. These parts are separated from the leaf when regular kratom powder is processed, and are offered here on their own. The material is more fibrous and coarser than leaf powder and has a different alkaloid balance.
In this category you will find Stem and Vein kratom in 25 and 100 gram packs. It is a less common form, worth a look if you already know the standard strains and want to see how the rest of the plant compares. Our full range is in the kratom category. For adults aged 18 and over only.

Stem and Vein Kratom: the Rest of the Leaf
Stem and vein kratom is what remains when kratom leaf is carefully processed. To make regular kratom powder, the leaf is dried and the stems and central vein are removed, because the leaf tissue holds most of the alkaloids. That leftover material used to be largely discarded. Today it is collected separately and ground, and the result is Stem and Vein kratom.
A Different Plant Part, a Different Profile
Stems and veins also naturally contain mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, but in a different ratio from the leaf. The content is lower and the profile is generally described as milder. That means stem and vein cannot be compared one to one with leaf powder from the same tree. Think of it as a product with its own character, not as a weaker version of a familiar strain.
Texture and Taste
Because stems and veins consist largely of fibre, the material is coarser than fine leaf powder. It dissolves less readily and quickly sinks to the bottom of your cup. If you are used to the bitter taste of leaf powder, you will often find stem and vein tastes woodier. Kratom is traditionally steeped as a tea and then strained, and with this coarser material a good strainer is no luxury.
Who Stem and Vein Suits
Stem and vein is not an obvious first choice. If you do not yet know the differences between the colours, start with standard leaf powder, for example from our green strain kratom category. Stem and vein is mainly for people who already know the familiar strains and are curious how the rest of the plant compares. If you are after more concentration instead, our kratom extracts are a better fit.
Using Stem and Vein Kratom Responsibly
A milder profile does not mean you can skip caution. Start low, with 1 to 2 grams, and allow plenty of time before taking more. Small amounts of kratom tend to feel more uplifting, larger amounts calmer. Do not combine it with alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines or other sedatives, nor with MAO inhibitors. If you take medication, consult a doctor first. It is not suitable for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and you should not drive after use. Keep breaks between days of use. Kratom is legal in the Netherlands and is only sold to customers aged 18 and over. Other rules may apply in other countries, so look them up yourself.
Frequently Asked Questions about Stem and Vein Kratom
What is stem and vein kratom?
It is the ground stems and leaf veins of Mitragyna speciosa, kept aside when regular kratom powder is processed.
Why is stem and vein milder than leaf powder?
The leaf tissue contains the highest concentration of alkaloids. Stems and veins contain less, and in a different ratio.
Why does stem and vein look different from kratom powder?
Stems and veins are fibrous. They cannot be ground as finely as leaf tissue, so the end product is coarser and less uniform.
How should you store stem and vein kratom?
Dry, dark and airtight, just like leaf powder. A sealable jar or the original packaging works best, as moisture and light reduce the quality.
