Tranquility Mix - herbal tea
Tranquility Mix combines six herbs into a flavourful tea blend: raspberry leaf, calendula, red clover, sweet clover, peppermint and rose petals. Raspberry leaf (from the raspberry bush, Rubus idaeus) has been used in European herbal tradition for centuries; the leaf contains tannins among other compounds and is traditionally regarded as a robust, mildly astringent tea herb. Calendula (Calendula officinalis) and rose petals give the blend its floral, soft flavour and colour, while red clover and sweet clover provide the characteristic sweet undertone; sweet clover naturally contains coumarin, the same compound behind the distinctive scent of freshly cut hay. Peppermint adds a fresh finish that balances the sweeter herbs. Together these six herbs form a caffeine-free tea blend well suited, hot or as iced tea, to a quiet moment at the end of the day.
Dosage
Use about 1 to 2 teaspoons (roughly 2 to 3 grams) of the mix per cup. If you take blood thinners, caution with sweet clover is warranted due to its coumarin content; consult your doctor or pharmacist if in doubt.
Use
Let the tea blend steep for 5 to 10 minutes in hot, not boiling, water and strain out the herbs before drinking. For a cold alternative, let the tea cool and serve it over ice.
Storage
Store the tea blend dry, dark and airtight, out of reach of children, to preserve its flavour and aroma.
