Gelatin ''00'' 100 Empty Capsules
These empty capsules are size "00", a commonly used standard size in capsule filling with a capacity of around 650 mg of dry powder per capsule, depending on the density of the powder you use. The capsule consists of two interlocking halves (cap and body) made of gelatin, an animal protein derived from collagen. As a result, these capsules are not suitable for vegetarians or vegans; for them, Dutch-Smart also carries the Vegetarian "00" empty capsules (HPMC) based on plant-derived cellulose. Filling your own capsules is a way to dose herbal powders, extracts or supplements into a fixed, easy-to-swallow portion, without tasting the often bitter or sharp flavour of the powder itself.
Use
Pull the two halves of a capsule apart, fill the body with the desired powder or herbal blend and press the cap back on until you feel it click. Filling a whole pack by hand takes time; the "00" Capsule Machine fills up to 100 capsules at once by spreading the powder evenly over the open bodies, dosing faster and more consistently than filling loose capsules by hand. Weigh or measure the amount of powder per capsule if you want to keep a consistent dose per piece, especially with potent herbal extracts.
Storage
Store the capsules dry and away from direct sunlight. Gelatin is sensitive to moisture: too much humidity can make the capsules soft or sticky, while an overly dry environment can make them brittle. Store them preferably in the closed original packaging, away from a humid room such as the bathroom.
