Step-by-step instructions
How to start
Mix the compost, sand and perlite, moisten the soil lightly and sprinkle the seeds on top. Cactus seed needs light to germinate, so don't cover it with soil. Close the propagator and place it in a bright, warm spot, but not in strong sun. Then follow the included instructions. Cacti germinate and grow slowly, peyote in particular. Expect it to take months before your seedlings look like small cacti.
Legal status and safety
Peyote and San Pedro naturally contain mescaline, a substance on List I of the Dutch Opium Act. The cacti themselves may be bought and kept in the Netherlands as an ornamental plant. Dutch-Smart sells this kit for growing ornamental plants, not for consumption. Keep the plants out of reach of children and pets. Taking them abroad? Check the local laws first.
