Catuaba, 10% TPA alkaloid extract
Catuaba is an umbrella name for bark extracts of several South American tree species; in trade, the name is most often used for Trichilia catigua and Erythroxylum vaccinifolium, both native to the Amazon region of Brazil. The bark has been used for generations in Brazilian folk medicine, where a decoction is traditionally used as a tonic for fatigue and for mood. Scientific research into these uses is limited and the results are inconclusive; this product is therefore offered strictly as an ethnobotanical herbal product, not as a medicine.
This extract is produced with the TPA method (Total Purified Alkaloids): the alkaloids are isolated from the bark through several extraction and purification steps and then dissolved in an ethanol and water base to a concentration of 10% catuabine A, B and C. The result is a clear liquid extract without plant residue, wax or chlorophyll.
Dosage
Start with 5 to 10 drops (about 0.25-0.5 ml) per use and assess your response before increasing the dose; due to its high purity this extract is stronger per volume than a traditional bark decoction.
Use
The extract can be taken sublingually (drops under the tongue) or diluted in a small amount of water; the taste is sharp due to the ethanol content, so diluting makes it more pleasant. Do not use this product during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you are under 18. Do not combine it with larger amounts of alcohol or medication without consulting a doctor.
Storage
