B+ spore vial, 10 ml
This vial holds 10 ml of spore suspension from the B+ mushroom strain, supplied by Mondo Mycologicals. Spores themselves contain no psilocybin or psilocin: they are the fungus's reproductive cells, used mainly for microscopy, identification and as starting material for anyone exploring the growing side of mycology.
Within the hobby, B+ is known as one of the most forgiving and fastest-growing strains. It grows readily on a wide range of substrates and tolerates a fairly broad temperature range, starting from around 15°C. On nutrient-rich substrates such as grain, compost and straw, B+ can form large fruiting bodies, in practice sometimes reaching around 30 cm, which also makes it popular with growers who like experimenting with substrate choice.
Use
Work sterile: clean your work surface and hands before opening the vial, and preferably use your own sterile syringe or inoculation loop to transfer suspension. Place a small amount on a slide for microscopy, or inoculate your chosen substrate if you are exploring the cultivation side. The vial itself is a sealable bottle, not a pre-filled syringe, so make sure you have your own sterile syringe or inoculation loop on hand to transfer the suspension.
Storage
Store the vial upright, in the dark and refrigerated between 2 and 8°C, for example at the bottom of the fridge. Do not freeze the suspension, since ice crystals can damage the spores. Stored correctly, the vial generally stays usable for quite a while, although spore viability gradually declines over several months, so it is best not to leave the vial unused for too long after you receive it.
