Lion's Mane extract capsules: the pom pom mushroom in a handy dose
Lion's Mane is an edible mushroom that grows on dead and weakened broadleaf trees, especially beech and oak. It stands out because of its white, hanging spines, which look like a lion's mane. That's where the English name comes from. In Japan it's called yamabushitake, in China houtou, monkey head. It has been eaten in Chinese and Japanese cuisine for centuries.

Why fruiting body and a dual extract?
Many mushroom supplements are made from mycelium grown on grain. The grain ends up in the final product, so part of the powder is starch. These capsules are made from the fruiting body only. You can read more about that difference in our blog Lion's Mane drops or capsules.
In a dual extract, the mushroom is extracted twice. Hot water draws out the water-soluble polysaccharides, such as beta-glucans. Ethanol draws out compounds that don't dissolve well in water, such as the hericenones found in the fruiting body. Together this gives a broader extract than water alone.
How to use
Take 1 capsule twice a day with a meal and a glass of water. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle.
Please note
Keep out of reach of children.
If you're pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication, consult your doctor first.
Do not use if you're allergic to mushrooms.
Keep the jar closed in a dry, cool place.
Other forms of Lion's Mane
Prefer not to take capsules? You can also choose Lion's Mane powder, 100 grams, to stir into a smoothie or coffee, or the 30 ml Lion's Mane extract as drops. There's also an organic Lion's Mane mushroom extract. Other mushrooms, such as reishi extract capsules, can be found among our medicinal mushrooms.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a jar last?
At 2 capsules a day, a jar of 120 capsules lasts 60 days.
What's the difference between extract and powder?
Powder is dried, ground mushroom. In an extract, the compounds have been drawn out and concentrated, so you get a fixed amount per capsule.
When should I take the capsules?
With meals, spread over the day: 1 capsule at breakfast and 1 at lunch or dinner.
