Merlin C002 banknote counter with counterfeit detection
The Merlin C002 is a desktop banknote counter that combines two tasks: fast counting and checking for counterfeit money. The device uses three detection methods at once: ultraviolet light (UV-A) that recognises the fluorescent features of genuine banknotes, a magnetic sensor that measures the magnetic ink in banknotes, and infrared that reads specific infrared patterns in the paper. By combining these three techniques, the machine catches a wider range of counterfeits than a counter that relies on just one method.
The counting mechanism processes up to 1,500 banknotes per minute, with adjustable settings of 1,000, 1,200 or 1,500 notes per minute for anyone who prefers counting a little slower and therefore more precisely. The input tray holds up to 300 banknotes at once, the output tray catches up to 200. When the sensors detect a note that is damaged, creased or sticky, the machine stops automatically so you can set it aside instead of the count continuing with an incorrect result.
Use
Place the stack of banknotes straight into the input tray and start the count; the machine works through the whole stack and shows the number on the display. Use the batch function to set a fixed number in advance, for example 50 or 100 notes per stack, handy when preparing cash registers or bank bags. Because the machine works across multiple voltage levels (100-130V and 220-240V, 50/60Hz), it can also be used outside the Netherlands without a separate adapter.
Maintenance and specifications
Keep the input and sensor area free of dust for a stable count; a soft, dry cloth is enough for the housing. Don't place the machine in direct sunlight or a damp room, as this can affect the UV and infrared sensors over time.
